This blog is Dead

I’m not going to write here anymore, and I don’t care about the content I wrote here. No one seems to pay attention to this site anyway, so I may be talking to thin air; but it’s always good to have a sense of closure.
If you like the name of the blog, I can transfer ownership to you, just tell me in comments.
When I Tried to Write
September 29, 2008 at 12:43 am | Posted in Writing | 1 Comment
A few minutes ago I sat down to try and write a story. This what happened (what I wrote):
This is a story, written by a man, who has never written a story before. In fact, he is so terrified to write his story (for fear of screwing up) that he is perpetually procrastinating the task of writing even a sentence. He sits in front of a computer, his hands on a keyboard, and ideas come rushing to his head, but he is afraid to write. He is afraid to face the criticism of himself, and even if he feels he could produce something he deems admirable, he fears the criticism of others. Having never written a story before, he does not know what to expect. Will his dialog be dull? Will his characters be boring? Will his plot be unexciting? Or could everything string itself together and create a wonderful masterpiece worthy of a prize? He does not know, so he does not write. He is scared.
When I sat down to write, all I had was that first sentence. After I wrote the first sentence the rest started coming. Instead of producing a story like I had sat down to do, I believe I gained some insight into myself.
Has anyone else ever had something like this happen?
Download Songs From the Store
September 26, 2008 at 9:15 pm | Posted in Technology | 1 CommentTags: downloads, ipod, mp3, mp3 players, music, stores, Technology
So I came across this article and thought it was a pretty cool idea. But I figure that if you’re going to buy music at physical stores, instead of online, then it would be a good idea to completely skip the physical media and directly download the music to your music player of choice.
You go to the store, buy your music, plug in your music player, and the music gets put directly on your music player.
What do you think of this?
Proposed Idea for My Post’s Format
September 16, 2008 at 8:18 pm | Posted in Other | Leave a commentShort Version: Change the way the posts I do, so they look like this
Long Version: After thinking about the way I post, I figured a format like this would be better. You get the idea given straight out at the beginning and get the in depth look at the idea next. This is also helpful for me because it should stop some of my ramblings early on
.
I will post my next posts in this format and if I seem to like it then I will update all my old posts to look like this.
I’m curious as to what you think about this new format, tell me in the comments!
Writing My Book: The Ideas
September 13, 2008 at 11:51 am | Posted in Writing | Leave a commentHi…
I said I was going to write a book and I did not come ill prepared. I actually have some ideas for my books! I could just spill my guts out and tell every idea I’ve come up with thus far, but I don’t believe all of them are good… So here are the ones that I think could be good enough to write.
- Happiness – I would like to explore the subject of happiness, to see if I can find what the difference is between the extremely happy and the depressed.
- Computer takes over the world – Yes it’s been done many times before. But I figured that it would be interesting to do this story from the view of the computer, which I don’t think has been done before.
- How to make websites – Another one that has been done many times before, but I think I could fine something could bring to the table.
- Psychology – So this is the most thought out story I have. Basically its about a psychology student who discovers how to influence people and eventually he ends up having a great deal of power. Problem with this idea is that I don’t know how to get a plot in it, it’s more of just a concept.
- How to write a book – or at least how I wrote a book. This probably will not actually be a book, just a series of blog posts here.
That’s all I have right now, that and zero pages written on any of them
I’d love to hear what you think of these, please tell me in the comments!
Bye
I’m Going To Write a Book
September 12, 2008 at 11:50 pm | Posted in Writing | 2 CommentsHey…
I’ve decided to write a book, or maybe not (we will see if I give this up in a week or so…). I have a few ideas, but I haven’t decided on anything concrete. The ideas I have range from short stories to full blown novels to how-to books. There is no way I could write them all, and I will probably post some of the ideas here. I would like everyone to be able to read my books, so I will probably make them free, and I will post a link to them when they’re ready to be read.
Hope someone will like my books…
Bye.
Make the User a Developer
September 12, 2008 at 11:44 pm | Posted in Technology | Leave a commentHello
I am a programmer, in other words, I know how to make software. What is software? Software is what you are using right now to view this blog post. You may be using the software Internet Explorer. Though it is not extremely hard to develop software, it is not too easy for the average user. You have to learn a programming language, and have a compiler so you can run your program.
So what I want to do is to make it easy, maybe even effortless. I want the user to start up the program and be asked a series of questions, then they can drag and drop different program components to make the final program. I would also like to still be able to program the old way for more advanced things (unless of course every thing is so easy you don’t need to do this). I’d also like it to have a nice intuitive and user friendly help feature, may good things suffer from the lack of a good help feature.
Similar products to this are:
Alice - an animation program
Game Maker – a game making program
But I’d like to make it just slightly better.
Bye
P.S. If you haven’t already I urge you to try Alice and Game Maker. They both are very good programs which I have used myself and are very easy to learn.
P.P.S. I’m sorry I was so vague in what I just wrote I plan on writing something more in-depth or creating a mock-up of what it would look like, or maybe even create a prototype to describe this better.
Google Chrome, Shiney New Toy Syndrome
September 2, 2008 at 9:45 pm | Posted in Not An Idea Of Mine, Other, Technology | Leave a commentNote To Any Readers: This is not a regular “idea post” to this blog, it is more of a free flow of my ideas and a reflection of my previous post
After a brief reflection on my previous post, and after doing a little more surfing around the web I realized what was happening with Google Chrome. All the tech blogs (and me!) were writing about Chrome. I realized that all this hype about Chrome, is JUST HYPE. It happens often when a new product launches and when people get new things. I call this the Shiny New Toy Syndrome. It happens when you get something new and all you want to do is use it, talk about it, etc. (and it usually happens when a kid gets a new toy).
So I think what may happen is that this hype will go on for a while as people are distracted by the Chrome’s “shininess” and eventually it will die down. Maybe chrome will become a competitive browser, maybe not, maybe it’s over-hyped, maybe I should just stop writing/thinking about it.
Then I realized… Should I be writing this post, should I have written my last post, was it that important to add to the hype? I don’t know, but what is done is done.
Bye.
P.S. Lending itself to the Shiny New Toy Syndrome, I am actually still using Chrome
Google Chrome
September 2, 2008 at 8:49 pm | Posted in Not An Idea Of Mine, Technology | Leave a commentEveryone has been talking about Google’s new browser so I figured I would throw in my two cents.
I like Chrome, it runs fast and looks a lot cleaner/nicer than the other browsers. It starts and browses fast, which was one of the many reasons I had switched from Internet Explorer to Firefox. That said, I am using it on my fast computer (I haven’t yet installed and tested it on my slower laptop) so it starts in about the same time as Firefox. Google Chrome has just about all the browsing tools I need, except for two things:
1. Add-ons (Firefox)
2. Foxmarks (syncing bookmarks, Internet Explorer and Firefox)
I like having the add-ons because, though they tend slow the browser down a little, they do provide many features the browser doesn’t have out of the box. Foxmarks is a must have for me because it allows me to access my bookmarks when on someone elses computer (and in Google Chrome) and have all the same bookmarks across all my computers (my home computer + laptop for me).
So to sum it up: I am impressed with Chrome, might actually take it over Firefox becuase of what it has to offer, except for the fact that it doesn’t offer add-ons. (If it tells you anything, I wrote this post in Chrome!)
Bye!
